Early Life:

Emilie Mathonet was born on July 12, 1980 in Leidschendam, The Netherlands to a French mother and a Dutch father.

As a small child she began to enjoy drawing and then inventing stories about the characters she had drawn.

Her art had become her world. Emilie’s developed passion had her school notebooks filled with her creations. After all, she would have rather drawn than pay attention to the teacher’s lessons due to not only her true artist nature but herself.

Presently:

Emilie is an autodidactic illustrative artist who has specialized herself in making portraits and illustrations. She has many characteristic traits within her art that she works with. She starts with a depicted person and then often uses symbols or themes that are linked to the depicted person. Emilie will often

use photo's for her drawings but not to copy.

It is a starting position and she aims to change the pose, small details, and/or sometimes composes a completely new composition for a portrait or illustration. Her aim is to always create a certain tension.

Emilie currently works on commission and has donated her art to music artists, people with special needs, and also to those who are dear to her.
